This painting exercise led me to work on some of my own paintings and help generate more ideas for me, which is really the point of the book. If ever hitting a road block with art projects is a problem, this is a great book to pull out and work through. The exercises will help you start thinking about how to incorporate some of the techniques into other art projects.
This particular exercise inspired me to start using things from around my house to incorporate into my art or to become art. You can see my final art piece below. It’s not anything I’m going to be hanging on the walls, but it was fun to make and it inspired to do other pieces.
I don’t go into detail about what all the exercise entails because I don’t want to spoil the book, but I will say that I improvised a bit and added the blot in the middle. I thought it was kind of flat and need something extra on top, so plopped some paint in the middle and folded. Viola!
